”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
“Hope through Love” is the very first chapter of my book. There is a reason for choosing this title and making it the first chapter. It was important that, as the reader, you understand that there is hope through love, through God’s love.
When the storms hit us in life, we get focused on the negative and we lose sight of Him. I admit, I do that still, it’s hard not to do it. Fact is, I’m human, and that is going to happen. However, when we lose sight of God, when we take our focus off of Him, we forget He is there with us. We lose our hope and when we lose our hope; we forget what His love is and how it’s always there for us. The only way to get our hope back is for us to refocus on God. When we do that, we are reminded of His endless love for us.
That can be easier said than done, especially when that storm is just beating down on us. But the first chapter is there to remind us that there is hope for us and it’s through God, through His love. That topic, I believe, sets the stage for the rest of the book. It’s easier to face whatever storms we are going through, whatever darkness we are facing, when we have hope. Hope for something more, hope in a love that is always there for us, hope in God.
So, just like that, reading about God’s love and the hope we get from that, in the very beginning, gives us the strength to face the coming chapters. His love lingers in our minds when we read the hard chapters that there is still hope. It wraps around us when we read about the good things that happened. It guides us and helps us to stay focused on God and His love for us.
“Hope through Love” is my way of reminding you that God is there and so is His love. I believe that there will be some who read my book, that will need that hope right away. I would rather give that to them in the first chapter, instead of making them wait for it later on in the book. Because hope is powerful when we have a belief in God. It’s through hope that we can find our faith and embrace God’s love for us.
